a bunch of us had a meeting with a PUB biologist the other day,
he told us that those red eared sliders have reached plague
proportions at some public waterways ....
he also tell us of arapaimas getting caught deep inside the
catchment area ....
that's right .... arapaimas .... -__-"
Arapaimas have been around for YEARS
So is the Redtail Catfish and Shovelnose catfish and other
monster fishes. There are Alligator Gars too
Which is WHY I have been saying that the turtle AVA should Ban
for sale is really the red eared sliders and not other more docile
species that do not get that large and make better pets like Musk
Turtles & Maps. Also they will cost more and it is a deterent
for idiots who buy pets on impulse!!!
They should also consider reptile license and allow pets like
farm bred tortoises like Red Foots & Cherry head tortoises as
they are suitable for our humid climate and make very clean and
intelligent pets -_-"
Seriously if they want to ensure that people don't dump these
pets, make it illegal to sell except for people with the correct
license, micro-chip these pets so that idiots who are not
interested won't buy. Plus, not many ppl will want to spend about
$100 for a turtle/tortoise unless they really like them.
